Bean Update: 15w

Yesterday we reached 15w pregnant with Bean and we had a doc appointment in the morning.

The appointment was fine, brief and more of a discussion appointment rather than a medical appointment. I have my first cervical length u/s at 16w, start P17 shots at 17w (though I'm waiting to hear back from the doc's office about what I need to do to order the meds and schedule an appointment for the actual shot), we converted the 21w cervical length u/s to be our anatomy scan and our next appt with the doc is at 19w.

After discussing and deciding all of that the doc asked me to get on the exam table. Earlier in the appointment Gus had asked if he could use the pedal to make the table move. The doc said no, but when I was on the table he'd let Gus use the pedal. So, Gus got to use the pedal to raise and recline the exam table. Then, without a second's though, the doc asked Gus if he wanted to be the helper. Gus, of course, said yes. So, Gus go to squeeze the gel on my abdomen, turn on the doppler and put the transducer on my abdomen to look for Bean's heartbeat. The doc needed to guide Gus' hand to find Bean, but it was so cool to have Gus be able to help. At one point, when there was a loud noise the doc said that was the baby either kicking or punching .When we heard the noise again, Gus confidently said, "Bean's punching." It was awesome.

I'm still not as connected to Bean as I was with Gus, so it was good for me to see a REAL interaction between Gus and Bean. Oh, and Bean's heartbeat was between 144 and 147bpm.

    1. Thank you. The topping on the cake was that Jon was at this appointment, too, so he was able to see even more of Gus' reactions that I did.

    1. Thank you. I haven't had a good or long u/s yet, so I'm hoping that at the u/s on Wednesday Gus will, again, be in for a treat when he sees Bean on the screen.

    1. I know. I was, and sometimes am worried, that I'm not working with the MFM clinic that I did in WI, but this doctor has really done well during the appointments for me and Gus.
