Update on Exercise Goal

It's been about a week since I posted my exercise goal, so I thought it best to give an update.

Monday, March 4
The alarm went off at 4:30am. I got out of bed, but with a blood sugar of 49, I was not able to exercise today.

Tuesday, March 5
The alarm went off at 4:30am.I got out of bed, and with a blood sugar of 88 with a down arrow, I grabbed some juice and crawled back into bed. Maybe I should just risk it and exercise at night :(

Does shoveling 1" of snow off the driveway after Gus was in bed count as exercise?

Wednesday, March 6
The alarm went off at 4:30am. I promptly turned it off and reset it for 5:15 after an emotionally draining night with Gus and staying up too late on the computer. I did have to shovel out the end of the driveway from when the plow went through and Gus and I shoveled the sidewalk before dinner today...does that count?

Thursday, March 7
The alarm went off at 5:15am today. I intentionally set it for 5:15 due to the late nights on Tuesday and Wednesday. Every morning on my walk into work (about a 10-minute walk) my body is telling me that I should get up and exercise every  morning. I'm not going to give up on this goal. Even if I don't accomplish exercising three times per week in the next three weeks, exercising is on my radar. I intentionally park farther away in parking lots, I try to take the stairs more often at work. While I'm not getting that morning exercise in RIGHT NOW I'm still glad that I'm being more conscious of what I'm eating and making small changes. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Friday, March 8
Last night was so emotionally draining that I left the alarm set for 5:15 this morning. With Gus' potty training, we keep trying different things to keep Gus motivated. With Jon gone this week, it's been very emotionally taxing on me as Gus continues having accidents and the only things that seems to have helped a little bit is when I cry after he has an accident. So, I declared last night that I needed to sleep. I think I may have chosen the wrong three-week period to tackle this exercise goal, but I will keep working on it!!

Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10
I know that the weekends are just not going to work for me to exercise. I knew that before I ever stated my goal on my blog. I prefer to enjoy me weekends with my family and letting Jon have the exercise focus on the weekends.

Monday, March 11
I fully intended to get up this morning. Jon was home. I wouldn't have to worry about Gus waking up and it just being me, but Daylight Savings Time kicked my butt. Tomorrow is another day.

  1. I think just the fact that you're conscious of the things that need to change and taking little steps in that direction is already a big accomplishment you should be proud of! I find that once I reach that place of knowing things/habits need to change, it becomes easier for me to slowly make those changes. So be proud of yourself! I can't imagine working through that schedule and having a toddler to look after as well, so I'd say all this counts :) Here cheering you on!
